To the Screening of : THE GREAT GATSBY

We really like being housed in a cineplex: We're always the first to know when new movies are released, and always inspired by the buzz that comes from big/good/innovative films. This time round, the one that is getting us all geared up has to be The Great Gatsby. Despite the varying reviews, we are completely sold by their over-the-top trailer. 
The glitz, drama, and extreme decadence of the roaring 20's is so captivating. While we're decades late, how fun to relive the era (in our 3D glasses no less) for one night.  To complete our inspiration, we've put together our best Great Gatsby ensemble for you: From the cutest art-deco necklace, gold leather tote, to the smartest suede shoes and handsome well-cut shirts.

Great Swedish Design : SANDQVIST Bags

Arne in Black (only at Orchard 22) -
A Reporter bag with two large compartments (one specially padded for laptops up to 17"). Two zipper pockets on the front, and a removable shoulder strap. Made out of highly durable cordura with grey lining, and handles in black vegetable tanned leather.


Stig in Blue (only at Cineleisure) -
A simple and classic backpack in heavy 18oz cotton canvas, with straps in belt leather. The backback has one zipper pocket on the inside and is padded in the bottom and back for absolute comfort, and fits up to 13" laptops. Straps are tanned into a cognac brown shade.

Orchard 22 Windows : Flights of Fancy

Come sunset, the sky and sea blend into one glorious gradient of orange and yellow tints. The flock of swans gracefully gather on the horizon, and make sail towards the great unknown...

Flights of Fancy is an origami fantasy currently playing out on our Orchard 22 windows - Giant paper swans brought to life by the tiny hands of In Merry Motion. We love their boisterous take on bright, cheerful, no-holds-barred decor, and hope you will too!

Rockstar takes on New York City

Rockstar goes to Bali, to Los Angeles, and then to Seoul...

This week, we relive our ultimate city experience - in none other than the gigantic melting pot of New York City. Romanticised in all forms imaginable - Film (Gangs of New York), musicals (West Side Story), books (Bright Lights, Big City) and into the radio airwaves with no mercy (Empire State of.. wait. Do we really have to list this one?). Now it's time we put our own spin to it.

This is a city that demands all of you. Feel the non-stop rumble of ill-maintained subways speeding impatiently beneath your feet. The ambulance sirens wail deep into the night - You eventually learn to sleep on it. Up in SoHo, rub shoulders with angsty New Yorkers sashaying ruthlessly past you. They are also probably not one to hide what they think about all that picture-taking. Stepping into Bergdorfs is akin to stepping into a world of (extremely perfumed) excess - which revolts yet inspires - all at the very same time.

A multi-sensory overload - Blink and you miss it. This is why we love the Big Apple.
